Résumé
Writing Effective marketing doesn't have to be limited
to products and services ... shouldn't people get the same
high-caliber marketing effort?
I certainly think so. For years, I've written résumés
for friends and family, almost always using similar techniques found
in good direct response copywriting:
- Write to the reader's self-interest, not your own
- Answer the question, "What's in it for me?"
- Make it easy to read
- Get to the point, be positive, use action verbs
- Quantify, be specific, find the "Unique Selling Proposition"
See? Still direct response. The only difference was instead of
trying to sell outright or coax sales leads, my goal was to generate a
phone call or email that said, "Hi, you sound like a terrific prospect
for the position we have available... how about we set up an
interview?"
That's why it seemed logical to add Résumé
Writing as one more example of the on-target direct response marketing
that I've been doing for 20+ years. And from what my résumé
